Your opportunity

In this role, as Technical Subcontract Manager Combat, you have the chance to be at the forefront of integrating innovative combat systems for large-scale naval projects. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring that advanced technologies such as sensor systems, weapons, command, and control systems come together to form a powerful and cohesive combat suite. This is an opportunity to work on high-profile projects that impact the future of naval defense, while collaborating with leading industry suppliers and cross-functional teams. You will have the autonomy to manage key aspects of the project lifecycle, from definition through to acceptance, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex, high-value defense solutions.

What you will do

  • Oversee and manage multiple subcontractors and suppliers throughout the planning and execution phases of the project, with a focus on meeting short- and medium-term objectives
  • Ensure that all combat systems products and services meet the required specifications, quality standards, and deadlines, while staying within budget constraints
  • Take the lead in the integration of complex, medium-value projects, managing subcontractor activities to ensure smooth execution
  • Participate in and lead project reviews to track progress and address any issues
  • Coordinate and align all project-related activities to ensure subcontractor deliverables and obligations are met
  • Serve as the accepting party during key project milestones, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT), and Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Assist in resolving any warranty issues that arise post-delivery
  • Support evaluations of technical proposals, conducting technical and cost assessments
  • Collaborate as the Combat System Integrator (CSI) to define, establish, and validate all critical interfaces, ensuring proper testing and functionality

What you already have

  • A relevant technical bachelor's or master's degree
  • +5 years of experience in technical subcontract management, working with international subcontractors, ideally in the naval or shipbuilding industry
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in managing complex systems, particularly in the naval or shipbuilding sector
  • Solid contract management capabilities, with a good understanding of legal language and technical terms
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal teams and external partners
  • Proven experience in project management, with a project management qualification being a plus.
  • Fluency in English, with knowledge of Dutch and/or German, or a willingness to learn.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport, meeting the requirements for military-related projects, which is necessary for security and compliance reasons
