Your opportunity

As a Technical Specification Engineer, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks within the field of Marine Engineering. Your involvement will span from the initial proposal phase to the final delivery of projects. Working as part of a team of engineers, you will collaborate to produce the necessary engineering outputs during project execution. Your role will involve applying technical and practical knowledge to the design process and ensuring accurate storage of all relevant data in the PDM system.

In your capacity as a Technical Specification Engineer, you will play a vital role in the engineering process by creating essential deliverables. These may include specification documents, reviewed supplier documentation, functional descriptions, schematic drawings, as well as test and validation plans.

What you will do

  • Developing technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based on customer and design requirements
  • Conducting technical evaluations of supplier quotations in close collaboration with the purchasing department
  • Ensuring full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Engaging in technical discussions to establish comparable levels of compliance among competing suppliers for the same product or system, laying the groundwork for commercial negotiations
  • Acquiring and reviewing supplier information and documentation such as mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, electrical diagrams
  • Integrating components and systems into the ship design through close collaboration with internal departments, suppliers, statutory bodies, and the owner
  • Providing input and updates to the engineering database, including purchase orders, parts, metadata, and documentation
  • Performing necessary technical calculations to validate the design
  • Compiling technical and functional specification documents for System Description Statements, HAT, and SAT procedures
  • Inspecting equipment at suppliers and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Providing technical support during commissioning activities
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with suppliers and subcontractors technical representatives
  • Participating in design checks and reviews to ensure the required level of quality

What you already have

  • MSc. or BSc. in relevant Marine Engineering faculty 
  • Knowledge and experience with ships mechanical systems
  • Available for working full-time in Rotterdam Area
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multi-cultural team
  • Willingness to perform a background check
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
