Your opportunity

We seek a Technical Lead – Corrosion Protection, Welding, and Adhesive to join the Research & Technology Support Group. This team plays a crucial role in driving innovation, supporting modern technology developments, and providing expert advice on shipbuilding projects. You will be responsible for ensuring technical compliance with regulations, offering expert guidance on preservation, welding, and adhesive technologies, and supporting both the production and proposal phases of various projects.

As a Technical Lead, you will advise on a range of engineering subjects, contribute to research initiatives, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners. Your expertise will be critical in developing standards and overseeing complex projects, ensuring successful project execution, and fostering innovation in shipbuilding.

What you will do

  • Develop and review contractual specifications related to preservation, welding, and adhesives for shipbuilding projects.
  • Create technical specifications and instructions in line with contractual documents and classification requirements, ensuring smooth production processes.
  • Oversee ISO 3834 welding activities, and provide guidance on corrosion prevention and bonding techniques for ship structures.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and engineers to ensure projects are executed following technical standards.
  • Lead research initiatives and provide specialized knowledge on preservation, welding, and bonding techniques for various projects.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and establish clear protocols for operational adherence.
  • Conduct internal audits, facilitate third-party inspections, and prepare compliance reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support design reviews and maintain quality assurance during production, ensuring project deliverables are achieved within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions within your area of expertise.
  • Foster knowledge transfer and promote continuous improvement of processes within the department.

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Corrosion Protection Technology or Material Sciences
  • Certification as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT), and FROSIO Painting Certification
  • Extensive theoretical knowledge and experience in Corrosion Protection, Welding, and Adhesive in complex project environment
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
  • Willingness to perform a background check
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
