Your opportunity

Structural Analyst is a project-based position for a period of 1 year. As Structural Analyst, you will work in the Naval & Structural team, which is part of the Engineering department. You will contribute to both basic and detailed engineering. You will be responsible for designing structures and performing relevant calculations from the proposal phase through to yard support and delivery of the vessel. This will include general construction plans, detailed calculations, and integrated foundations. You will be required to consider various aspects such as strength, stiffness, vibrations, buckling, fatigue, military loads, blast and signature aspects, producibility, and maintainability. You will need to apply FEM calculations. You will also be responsible for delivering project milestones, including class approval of the structure and technical meetings with other departments, suppliers, class, or client representatives. You will lead structural engineers in creating 3D-CAD models and checking drawings and production packages. Additionally, you may be required to contribute to R&D initiatives and improve internal processes.

What you will do

  • Performing required technical calculations to validate the design
  • Responsible for the integration of delivered components and systems into ship design
  • Ensuring full compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications
  • Developing and describing standards and working methods.
  • Supporting engineering of an outsourced package, design checks, and design reviews
  • Defending technical solutions and communicating them to stakeholders
  • Performing technical evaluations of quotations from suppliers and subcontractors in close cooperation with the purchasing department
  • Integrating vendor and subcontractor information

What you already have

  • +3 years of experience in structural engineering within shipbuilding or offshore sectors
  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
  • Good working knowledge of FEM software (ANSYS, NX, FEMAP)
  • Good theoretical & practical knowledge of class and flag rules & regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, since you will be communicating with other internal departments
  • A practical and customer-oriented approach, since you will be involved in communication with clients and class societies
  • Ability to work in a highly complex technical environment, so expect to be positively challenged
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multi-cultural team
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
