You will focus on both, defining the equipment and components, as well as coordinating and checking vendors and subcontractors, up to the delivery to the client. You will work side by side with the Technical Manager, Mechanical Engineer, FEM Engineer, and Simulation Specialist.

What you will do

  • Drawing up the plan, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with legislation for electrical installations and equipment
  • Creating specifications for purchase items and subcontracted sub-systems,  including power & control cabinets, field components, and sensors
  • Producing drawings, BOMs & specifications and uploading them to the document management system
  • Creating project documentation
  • Subserving the commissioning activities, when necessary
  • Writing FAT protocols & reports, as well as attending the FAT test at the suppliers
  • Reporting your scope of work directly to the Project Manager

Where you will work

Our client is an Offshore Cranes OEM that operates with a small project management and engineering team from their office near Amsterdam. They develop, build and deliver specialized lifting equipment. As part of a large industrial group, the company has in-house manufacturing capacity in France and other locations worldwide.

  • Independent and compact team focused on the offshore industry with all the support and stability of a global industrial group
  • As the team is involved in projects from first contact to commissioning, you can have a real impact
  • Exciting new motion-compensated solutions for offshore wind
  • Open communication and team spirit feeling!

What you already have

  • MSc. or BSc. in Electrical Engineering
  • Deep knowledge of DC bus systems and frequency drives as that is the core of the electrical scope of work
  • Experience in E-Plan and MS Visio would be nice to have, but if you’re a seasoned user of other software, you will get a special training
  • Knowledge of offshore rules and regulations is a great asset, as this will define quite a few of your design choices, but this is also something you will learn on the go
  • A hands-on and proactive approach, as you are THE one person defining the Electrical system, and the main problem-solver
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team
  • Available for occasional travels within Europe, and sometimes around the world

Your benefits

  • 40 paid holidays per year for an excellent work-life balance
  • Salary based on expertise starting from 52K gross per year
  • Covered commuting and interviewing costs
  • Business Travel Insurance
  • Basic Dutch course, so you will understand the Dutch jokes during the coffee break
  • Access to social gatherings, lectures, and events, so you will meet like-minded friends within the Dutch Maritime Industry. We also offer you a 1-year membership of KNVTS, Royal Dutch Association of Marine Engineers.
  • Housing search support and registration provided by Van Storm
