Your opportunity

As a Shock & Noise Engineer, you are involved in the design aspects related to shock, underwater noise, sonar noise and inboard noise of Navy Ships. Your main goal is to design the ship structure and the mounting of system components with respect to the requirements.

What you will do

  • Defining and negotiating design requirements, standards and norms
  • Designing system frequencies, displacements and accelerations of components and skids, including the selection of flexible mountings
  • Cooperating with structural engineers, suppliers and customers frequently
  • Participating in full-scale testing and validation onboard during the production phase
  • Supporting R&D department for the verifications and validations, software development, product development and process development

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Min 8 years of experience in shock & noise onboard ships
  • Experience with the design of flexible mountings and inboard noise calculations
  • Experience with relevant software tools (6-DOF, FEMAP, ANSYS)
  • Good knowledge and experience with relevant international standards (STANAG, IMO, Class)
  • Good communication and people skills, since you will be communicating with other internal departments, as well as external stakeholders
  • A practical and customer-oriented approach, since you will be involved in communication with clients and class societies
  • Ability to work in a highly complex technical environment, so expect to be positively challenged
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
