Your opportunity

As a Shock Engineer, you will be the expert on ship and system performance under underwater shock loads caused by mines, torpedoes, or other explosions. You will develop and validate solutions to ensure naval vessels meet the strictest shock requirements through engineering, simulation, and testing.

With your input, ships will achieve maximum safety, reliability, and mission readiness. You will combine hands-on testing with advanced analysis tools, while collaborating with colleagues, suppliers, and clients. You will also contribute to innovative R&D projects that shape the future of naval shock engineering.

What you will do

  • Design and optimize shock-resistant ship structures and mounting systems
  • Perform shock calculations, simulations, and underwater explosion assessments (FEMAP, ANSYS, 6-DOF)
  • Define and align shock requirements with customers, classification societies, and naval standards (STANAG, Class)
  • Support production with shock testing and onboard validation, including full-scale trials
  • Advise project teams and clients on the impact of shock loads on ship design
  • Take part in R&D focused on advancing naval shock engineering and system resilience

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Proven expertise in shock engineering, underwater explosion effects, and ship shock resistance
  • Proficiency with FEMAP, ANSYS, 6-DOF, or equivalent tools
  • Familiarity with STANAG and Class standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Excellent references (security screening applies)
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport (mandatory for military projects)
