Job summary:

Tasks: developing statutory ship plans and securing approvals from classification societies and clients during basic engineering

Projects: complex defence & security vessels

Company: naval shipbuilder, part of global shipbuilding group

Main requirements: +4 years of experience in outfitting engineering

Your opportunity

As a Senior Plans and Arrangements Engineer (interim), you will join an experienced Plans & Arrangements (P&A) team working on the basic engineering of high-end naval vessels. Your focus will be on independently developing statutory ship plans, translating vessel specifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulations into accurate 2D and 3D technical documentation.

You will work on essential documents such as the General Arrangement Plan, Fire Safety Plan, and Watertight Integrity Plan, ensuring their compliance with relevant standards and securing approval from classification societies and clients. These plans form the foundation for other engineering disciplines, making your contribution essential to the overall ship design process.

Working closely with engineers from different disciplines, you will resolve technical challenges, coordinate design inputs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the department. The position focuses specifically on statutory plans within basic engineering, rather than detailed outfitting arrangements or production drawings.

What you will do

  • Produce statutory plans and outfitting arrangements using 2D and 3D CAD Tools (Cadmatic and/or 3DExperience/Catia)
  • Interpret and apply class, flag, statutory, and customer requirements, ensuring full compliance throughout the design process

  • Prepare and coordinate technical documentation for approval by classification societies and clients

  • Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to integrate technical inputs and achieve consistent, compliant ship designs

  • Identify technical challenges, discuss solutions with the Lead Engineer Plans, and contribute to continuous improvement within the department
