Your opportunity

As a Senior Naval Architect, you will play a key role in safeguarding the technical integrity and regulatory compliance of world-class luxury yachts. Working at the heart of the engineering organisation, you will act as the technical authority for naval architecture-related matters and ensure consistency, feasibility, and compliance across all externally and internally developed packages.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Production teams, and external naval architecture companies. You will coordinate approvals with classification societies and flag administrations, proactively identify compliance risks, and translate regulatory requirements into buildable solutions within shipyard constraints.

What you will do

  • Review, coordinate, and verify naval architecture calculations and technical packages prepared by external parties, ensuring full alignment with shipyard standards, project requirements, and regulatory frameworks
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for naval architecture-related issues, including on-site support during the build phase
  • Interpret flag state regulations, international codes, and class requirements, translating them into clear and feasible design solutions
  • Manage communication and coordination with classification societies and flag administrations and support surveys, approvals, and regulatory processes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify regulatory and compliance risks early and take ownership of corrective actions.
  • Take ownership of the weight monitoring process and ensure consistency of weight and centre-of-gravity data throughout the project
  • Perform inclining tests and provide technical input for dock plans, launching operations, and transport activities
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams, shipyard departments, and external stakeholders, ensuring integrated and technically sound solutions
  • Mentor junior naval architects and contribute to multidisciplinary alignment

What you already have

  • MSc or BSc degree in Naval Architecture or Naval Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience within yachtbuilding, on large yachts (80m+)
  • Strong knowledge of superyacht regulations, international codes, and classification standards (experience with REG Yacht Code is a strong advantage)
  • Hands-on experience working directly with classification societies and flag administrations.
  • Solid understanding of yacht production processes and shipyard constraints
  • Strong technical judgement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English
