Your opportunity

As a Senior Configuration Engineer (Project Based), you will be responsible for managing the complete product configuration and all information that describes one of the unique vessels. You will also have the responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to the correct, up-to-date product data in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system during the entire life cycle of the product. From contributing to proposal preparation to overseeing the configuration data during the development and maintenance phases, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate information. You will also support the formulation of configuration management processes, train project teams, and document procedures in a configuration management plan.

This position allows you to actively participate in projects from the early proposal phase to the delivery of the vessel. You will have a controlling function, monitoring compliance with configuration management procedures and initiating necessary actions. By proactively communicating findings to stakeholders, you will contribute to effective collaboration.

Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to set up the configuration management plan, validate customer and supplier data, configure the project data environment in a PDM/PLM system, and ensure configuration change control. This role requires an eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to identify areas for improvement. 

What you will do

  • Setting up the configuration management plan (CMP) for the project
  • Concisely documenting configuration management procedures and overseeing the total CM process
  • Setting up the product structure and master document list
  • Performing validation of customer and supplier data, as well as overseeing change control processes
  • Configuring the project data environment in a PDM/PLM system
  • Ensuring Configuration Change control, monitoring processes and making suggestions for improvements

What you already have

  • BSc. degree in Engineering preferably in a complex shipbuilding environment
  • Experience in configuration management and PDM/PLM systems
  • Preferably knowledge of Systems Engineering principles
  • Precise and detailed way of working and affinity with configuration management, data management, document control and change control
  • Ability to define and improve processes and document them accordingly
  • Strong communicating skills and technical knowledge to interpret and report on the status and issues relating to configuration data and configuration change control
  • Willingness to occasionally work in the office in Schiedam and travel abroad occasionally
  • Experience working in complex international project environments and in building coalitions with internal and external suppliers and co-makers to achieve common goals
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, preferably also a good command of German 
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
