Your opportunity

As Project Manager New-Build, you will play a key role in an ambitious new-build programme for the river cruise vessel fleet. You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of multiple newbuild river cruise vessels, from steel hull construction to outfitting and finishing in the Netherlands.

You will coordinate schedules, suppliers, budgets, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and top-quality execution. Acting as the main link between the shipyard, subcontractors, and internal management, you will drive projects forward, anticipate risks, and resolve issues to keep the programme on track.

What you will do

  • Manage the planning and execution of multiple newbuild river cruise vessels from start to delivery
  • Coordinate project activities and chair/participate in project meetings to report progress
  • Conduct supplier audits, track performance, and develop long-term supplier relationships
  • Run RFP initiatives, evaluate bids, and support fact-based supplier selection decisions
  • Manage change requests and maintain structured decision protocols
  • Prepare and present project updates and steering committee reports
  • Identify and mitigate risks impacting schedule, budget, or quality
  • Monitor and control project schedules, milestones, costs, and deliverables
  • Collect and structure shipyard and subcontractor information for stakeholders
  • Maintain regular communication with shipyard, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders

Where you will work

.Our client is the European entity of a global river cruise company. Within the fast growing river cruise market it is one of the leading providers that offers cross-border boutique river cruises on all major waterways of Europe. The company is set out on an ambitious growth-path and has started a four year new-build programme of eleven high-end ships, which will almost all be at the maximum length of 135 metres.

The casco’s are constructed in Romania and the outfitting and finishing is executed on a Dutch shipyard near Arnhem. To support the VP Technical in managing the programme the company is now looking for a Netherlands based Project Manager.

What you already have

  • MSc. or BSc. degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in project management for shipbuilding, river cruise vessels, inland waterways vessels, or high-end superyacht building
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and marine engineering principles
  • Experience with large-volume procurement and supply chain management frameworks
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel vessel projects and competing priorities
  • Strong planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills
