Your opportunity

As a Project Engineer – Exterior, you will be one of several project engineers responsible for coordinating the engineering scope related to a yacht’s exterior. Working within the Exterior department, you translate design intent into technically feasible solutions and ensure that exterior elements - doors, hatches, ceilings, sliding systems, lighting, tenders, cranes, and more - are engineered and integrated to the highest standards.

You will manage your own exterior work packages, guide the engineers assigned to your scope, and act as a key link between designers, suppliers, production, and other engineering disciplines. Your role is essential for turning the exterior design vision into a buildable, class-compliant, meticulously executed product.

What you will do

  • Manage the exterior engineering scope for your assigned part of the project, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-controlled delivery.
  • Develop and oversee final designs, technical specifications, and 3D models for exterior components, ensuring compliance with Class & Flag regulations.
  • Act as a technical specialist, providing solutions for complex exterior engineering challenges.
  • Coordinate with engineers across Exterior, Interior, Mechanical, Construction, and Production to ensure seamless integration of all exterior items.
  • Supervise and mentor (junior/senior) exterior engineers working within your scope.
  • Review, coordinate, and approve supplier drawings, models, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate directly with the Owner’s team to align expectations and resolve technical bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and refine engineering processes to support continuous improvement and build efficiency.

What you already have

  • A BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Maritime Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in yachtbuilding
  • Experience managing or supervising a team of engineers
  • Proficiency with 3D AutoCAD and preferably Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Cadmatic
  • Strong command of English (spoken and written)
  • Deep technical understanding of yacht building, production, and construction processes
  • Excellent communication skills, adaptable to different stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, and owner’s representatives
  • Ability to balance creativity, engineering logic, and manufacturing feasibility
  • Availability to work full-time in the Leiden or Amsterdam area
