Your opportunity

As a Project Engineer Structural, you will take ownership of the structural engineering scope for prestigious custom-built mega yacht projects exceeding 80 meters. You will lead a team of engineers and be responsible for delivering high-quality, production-ready structural designs — from basic principles through detailed engineering and yard support. You will coordinate across disciplines, ensure compliance with class and flag regulations, and translate design intent into feasible, buildable solutions. In addition, you will actively contribute to the development of the department by coaching engineers, improving standards, and strengthening structural expertise within the team.

What you will do

  • Take responsibility for the structural engineering scope (hull) within one or more yacht projects
  • Lead and coordinate a team of Junior and Senior Engineers, managing scope, planning, and budget
  • Oversee structural design and integration of large components into the hull (e.g. reinforcements, hatches, doors, foundations)
  • Ensure designs are technically sound, production-ready, and compliant with class, flag, and internal standards
  • Review and approve drawings, 3D models, datasheets, and other engineering deliverables
  • Identify technical bottlenecks and propose practical, multidisciplinary solutions
  • Coordinate closely with other Project Engineers to ensure smooth interdisciplinary integration
  • Support the Project Manager Engineering (PME) in defining scope, planning, and progress monitoring
  • Act as a key interface for production, suppliers, subcontractors, and inspection authorities
  • Participate in project meetings with owners, clients, and site teams
  • Manage engineering documentation and ensure timely and accurate information flow
  • Coach and develop engineers, ensuring quality, consistency, and professional growth

What you already have

  • +5 years of experience as a Structural Engineer in the yacht- or shipbuilding sectors and 3 years as Lead or Project Engineer
  • Strong background in structural engineering within yacht or shipbuilding
  • Experience leading and coordinating teams of engineers
  • Solid understanding of production techniques and manufacturability
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and preferably Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or Cadmatic
  • Clear and empathetic communication, since you will be working across several departments and project teams
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, international environment
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team
  • Available for full-time in Amsterdam area
