Your opportunity

As a Structural Project Engineer, you are responsible for a defined part of the structural (hull) engineering scope on prestigious custom-built mega yacht projects (>80m), working on primary hull structures, reinforcements, foundations, openings (hatches, doors), and major structural interfaces. You coordinate and technically guide a small team of Structural Engineers delivering production-ready structural designs, from basic principles through detailed engineering and construction approval. In close cooperation with other disciplines, you ensure proper structural integration, compliance with Class and Flag regulations, and the translation of design intent into feasible, buildable solutions. Alongside project work, you contribute to the department by coaching engineers, applying and improving standards, and strengthening structural know-how within your scope.

What you will do

  • Take responsibility for the structural (hull) engineering scope within one or more yacht projects, from handover by the Lead Engineer through final design and construction approval
  • Lead and coordinate a small team of Structural Engineers responsible for delivering the detailed structural design for a defined project scope or area
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor engineering activities within your scope, ensuring alignment with agreed planning and budget
  • Oversee and approve detailed structural design and integration of components such as reinforcements, hatches, doors, and foundations
  • Ensure all designs are production-ready and compliant with Class, Flag, and internal standards before release
  • Review and approve drawings, 3D models, calculations, and related engineering deliverables
  • Identify technical or integration issues early and coordinate practical solutions with other engineering disciplines
  • Support the Project Manager Engineering (PME) in scope definition, planning, and progress reporting
  • Act as a technical point of contact during the design phase for production, suppliers, subcontractors, and inspection authorities
  • Coach and guide engineers within your scope, ensuring clarity, consistency, and quality of design output

What you already have

  • +5 years of experience as a Structural Engineer in the yachtbuilding sectors or 3 years as Lead or Project Engineer
  • Strong background in structural engineering within yacht or shipbuilding
  • Experience leading and coordinating teams of engineers
  • Solid understanding of production techniques and manufacturability
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and preferably Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or Cadmatic
  • Clear and empathetic communication, since you will be working across several departments and project teams
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, international environment
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team
  • Available for full-time in Amsterdam area
