Your opportunity

As a Project Engineer Structural, you’ll play a pivotal role in multidisciplinary project teams, contributing to the structural, mechanical, and naval architecture aspects of luxury yacht design.  You will be responsible for coordinating the project and supervising the Structural Engineer(s) on the work floor. You will ensure that all information and technical specifications are correctly processed and communicated clearly. You will coordinate the technical assessment, starting from concept design up to and including the final design, in close consultation with the other disciplines and external parties.

What you will do

  • Developing structural concepts: Craft the main construction plan and global structural designs at the early stages of projects.
  • Ensuring integration: Represent your discipline and collaborate with other teams to create seamless designs.
  • Balancing the big picture and details: Maintain a clear overview, ensuring alignment from high-level concepts to intricate details.
  • Stakeholder coordination: Work closely with shipyards, owner teams, classification societies, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • 3D CAD expertise: Utilize modern tools to process information, specifications, and designs accurately.
  • Problem-solving: Devise innovative solutions for integrating complex components while conducting strength and stiffness calculations.
  • Quality assurance: Monitor engineering deliverables to meet planning, budget, quality, and specifications.
  • Feasibility and oversight: Assess design feasibility and oversee detailed engineering and shell construction processes.

What you already have

  • +5 years of management experience in shipbuilding engineering, with expertise as a Structural Engineer
  • BSc. or MSc. in Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory standards (LR, REG LY Code, SOLAS), and FEM/vibration analyses
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM, and/or FEM applications (Siemens NX is a plus)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills since you will be involved in communication with designers, owner representatives, subcontractors and co-creators
  • Available for full-time in the Amsterdam Area
