Recruitment Partner Consultant at Van Storm

Job summary:

Tasks: Support the structural design during construction by resolving production, fabrication, and integration issues, ensuring compliance and buildability.

Projects: custom-made mega yachts +80m

Company: engineering office with state-of-the-art building facilities

Main requirements: +3 years of experience as a Structural Engineer (hull) in yachtbuilding, preferably with exposure to production support, site engineering, and modifications

Your opportunity

As a Production Support Engineer - Structural, you ensure the continuity and technical integrity of the structural design during the transition from engineering to construction and throughout the build phase of prestigious custom-built mega yacht projects (>80m). You work on hull structures and structural interfaces, acting as the technical link between Engineering, Production, Suppliers, and Class.

Your focus is on buildability, problem-solving, and modification management: identifying risks in drawings and supplier output, resolving on-site technical issues, and coordinating structural changes when reality deviates from the original design. You do not own the original design, but you ensure it can be built correctly, safely, and efficiently.

What you will do

  • Support the structural engineering scope during engineering finalisation, reviewing design output to identify buildability, integration, or production risks before construction approval
  • Provide targeted updates to models and drawings to resolve issues identified prior to construction approval, ensuring a production-ready design
  • Act as on-site technical support during the build phase, at the shipyard and supplier locations, resolving structural questions related to fabrication, prefabrication, and block erection
  • Handle technical queries from production and suppliers, ensuring issues are clearly analysed, documented, and formally processed
  • Prepare, manage, and track Modification Requests and Modification Orders (MR/MO) in coordination with Engineering and the Shipyard, including extended engineering where required
  • Maintain overview and traceability of all active structural modifications within your scope
  • Coordinate cross-disciplinary solutions for modifications impacting multiple departments, ensuring technical consistency and feasibility
  • Proactively identify risks in production drawings and supplier deliverables, initiating corrective actions before they affect quality or schedule
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, improving templates and standards, and optimising workflows (e.g. within Siemens NX)
