Your opportunity

As an OHS Engineer, you will be working on the newest technologies of the naval division of a world-leading Dutch shipbuilding group. You will be working on a broad variety of tasks in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and will be involved in various parts of the project. You will work in a team of several engineers and report to a OHS Manager. You will provide a vital support to project teams.

What you will do

  • Assessing potential safety issues and maintaining a hazard log
  • Monitoring and reporting the progress of outsourced hazard assessments
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and identifying areas for improvement
  • Coordinating, analyzing, and collecting data from subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Evaluating existing safety protocols and identifying areas for improvement
  • Intervening when necessary to ensure compliance
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective safety measures in project, design, and execution phases
  • Analyzing processes, equipment, and facilities to assess risks
  • Recommending corrective actions based on the assessment
  • Staying updated on changes in occupational health and safety laws and regulations

What you already have

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Previous experience in occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and standards, preferably in a complex technical environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for hazard identification, risk assessment, and the development of effective control measures.
  • Track record in conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Fluent proficiency in Dutch, German, and English languages (both written and verbal).
  • Certification in relevant occupational health and safety standards, such as NEBOSH or ISO 45001, is advantageous.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Capability for travel and work abroad.
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
