Main Requirements: 5+ years of experience as a Naval Architect of basic design phases of complex shipbuilding, with excellent overview of the entire yacht development and building process 

Your opportunity

As Naval Architect at De Voogt Naval Architects, you will be in charge of the theoretical and functional design of some of the world’s most extraordinary mega yachts. You will have a full project scope vision, actively contributing from the concept and basic engineering phase through to construction, inclining tests, and sea trials.

In this role you will be a true naval architect showcasing your strong analytical thinking, communication and organizational skills. You will guide a team of marine engineers and collaborate with shipyards, client representatives, class and flag authorities, and other internal disciplines. You will help ensure each design is both innovative and feasible, while also adhering to all relevant industry regulations.

What you will do

  • Lead project execution, overseeing design, engineering, construction, and delivery while ensuring seamless cross-discipline integration
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, acting as the key liaison with classification societies, flag states, and regulatory authorities
  • Manage technical integrity, identifying risks and optimizing weight, stability, propulsion, hydrodynamics, and noise & vibration performance
  • Perform and oversee calculations, including CFD analyses for hull optimization, resistance, seakeeping, and maneuvering
  • Collaborate across disciplines, aligning expectations with designers, engineers, shipyards, and owners to maintain design intent
  • Ensure quality and performance, monitoring the build process, conducting inclining tests, and participating in sea trials
  • Drive innovation, implementing new technologies and optimizing engineering processes for continuous improvement

What you already have

  • 5+ years of experience as a Naval Architect in the yacht or shipbuilding industry
  • BSc. or MSc. in Naval Architecture or a related field
  • A proactive and independent mindset
  • Experience with overseeing projects from start to finish
  • Strong analytical skills to propose and implement innovative solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of rules & regulations for super yachts (80m+)
  • Experience working with classification societies (a major advantage)
  • Able to effectively communicate, collaborate, and provide critical feedback to stakeholders
  • A client-focused and professional approach, ensuring smooth collaboration with external and internal partners
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Siemens NX (a huge plus!)
  • Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills to engage with a multicultural team and international clients
