Your opportunity

Are you driven by the challenge of designing cutting-edge naval vessels? As a Naval Architect Design Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping innovative warships from concept to tender. Working in a multidisciplinary proposal team, you’ll translate technical visions into feasible, high-performance designs. You'll be deeply involved in developing core architectural aspects—such as stability, resistance, and survivability—that are essential for mission-ready ships. This is your opportunity to contribute to projects that push the boundaries of naval engineering while collaborating with highly skilled specialists across departments.

What you will do

  • Execute key naval architecture tasks such as weight estimation, general arrangement design, and stability and propulsion calculations
  • Develop and evaluate ship design concepts aligned with project requirements and proposal needs
  • Prepare specifications, technical documentation, design reports, and presentations
  • Collaborate closely with Proposal Engineers, Tender Managers, and technical leads across disciplines
  • Perform requirement analysis and support balance trade-offs between stability, performance, survivability, and structural design
  • Ensure effective communication with stakeholders to integrate relevant input into the naval architecture work
  • Support the technical definition and delivery of innovative tender packages for high-end naval projects

What you already have

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical field
  • +3 years of experience in ship design, naval architecture, or proposal engineering
  • Strong understanding of hydrostatics, strength, stability, and motion behavior of ships
  • Familiarity with the design and integration of systems on complex naval platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
  • A collaborative, analytical mindset and strong documentation skills
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport required—due to security regulations for military projects, dual nationals or visa holders are not eligible
  • Willingness to undergo security screening as part of the recruitment process
