Your opportunity

As a Lead Specialist in Marine Welding and Coatings, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating a small team of technology specialists, ensuring exceptional performance during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Harbor Acceptance Tests (HAT), and Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT). Your role will involve driving development, providing expert advice, and engineering innovative solutions from the proposal phase through to the warranty period. Additionally, you will ensure a seamless connection with production facilities and take on the role of welding coordinator for the shipyard.

What you will do

  • Lead, coordinate, and prioritize tasks for a team of specialists across the research, design, proposal, engineering, production, and warranty stages of shipbuilding projects
  • Implement innovative solutions for complex, multidisciplinary projects, ensuring compliance with schedules, quality standards, and budget constraints
  • Support verification and validation testing during production, warranty phases, and research initiatives
  • Initiate and contribute to the development of advanced solutions in welding, coatings, and adhesives to meet evolving industry requirements
  • Provide strategic advice on project activity planning and allocate manhour budgets efficiently
  • Develop and review functional descriptions, calculations, simulations, technical specifications, and test and validation protocols.
  • Assist in design reviews and actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of departmental processes and tools.
  • Foster knowledge development, transfer, and retention within the team.

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in relevant Engineering field
  • Certification as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT)
  • 8+ years of experience 
  • NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) or Frosio diploma
  • Extensive theoretical knowledge in ship production welding, coating processes, metallic materials, and corrosion
  • Proven experience in relevant fields, particularly within complex projects, a in collaboration with research institutes, universities, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
  • Willingness to perform a background check
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
