Your opportunity
As a Lead Naval Architect, you will be the go-to person for all Naval Architectural matters. You will proactively advise your colleagues in the Project Management team, Engineering, and Production departments. You and your team will be responsible for monitoring the projects of superyachts from the sales phase until the sea trials and delivery to the client. Furthermore, you will be coordinating the inspection process carried out by the classification societies and the flag state.
Given that each project is custom-made, you will be challenged by its own specifics and characteristics.
What you will do
- Testing the naval architectural design for quality and technical feasibility
- Being the main point of contact for design issues in the construction process
- Providing input in solving technical design challenges
- Advising the project teams on design risks, technical specifications, and quality
- Ensuring a consistent approach to the technical design across all construction numbers of the yard
- Checking whether all requirements from the project team/owners team meet the applicable construction principles of the yard
- Following the Engineering process and give advice if needed
- Helping, giving advice, thinking along with making dock plans, launching, transport, etc.
- Ensuring uniformity between the technical installations of the various construction numbers
- Implementing the technical feedback from Aftersales, Refit and Warranty

What you already have
- +5 years of experience as a Naval Architect within yacht or shipbuilding sectors
- Deep technical knowledge about Naval Architecture, since you will be the main advisor in this field
- Clear and empathetic communication, since you will be working across several departments and project teams
- Positive and energetic attitude, so your team comes to work with a smile!
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team
- Available for full-time in the Leiden area
