As a Lead Electrical Designer, you will contribute to the detailed design of electrical power distribution systems for complex offshore and energy projects. You will work on greenfield platforms, HV substations, and low-voltage distribution systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and fully integrated designs. At the same time, you will guide and coach other electrical designers.

In this role, you’ll produce high-quality design deliverables, coordinate closely with multiple disciplines, and support the procurement and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical designer who enjoys technical detail, offshore engineering, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

What you will do

  • Interpret client requirements, project specifications, and applicable standards for electrical design
  • Prepare the full scope of electrical design deliverables (detail design), including cable lists, SLDs, layouts, and installation details
  • Develop block diagrams, lighting layouts, earthing layouts, hazardous area plans, routing plans, and equipment arrangements
  • Provide electrical input to 3D models and coordinate with the modelling team (Navisworks / 3D tools)
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, structural, planning, and other engineering disciplines to ensure consistent and aligned design
  • Support preparation of datasheets and requisition documentation for electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, UPS, etc.)
  • Review vendor bids and evaluate technical documentation during procurement
  • Select and size cables, trays, penetrations, and electrical components (with engineering support when needed)
  • Contribute to the development of load lists, key one-line diagrams, distribution SLDs, and other project-critical documents
  • Maintain close communication with the client on technical matters and design progress
  • Guide and coach a team of electrical designers

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • +5 years of experience in complex electrical engineering projects
  • Good working knowledge of Electrical installations, preferably in the offshore industry
  • Experience in leading and guiding colleagues (designers)
  • Excellent communication and people skills, since you will be communicating with other internal departments
  • Ability to work in a highly complex technical environment, so expect to be positively challenged
  • Fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multicultural team
  • Available for full-time in the Rotterdam area
