Your opportunity

As a Hydrodynamics Engineer, you will become an integral part of the design team, contributing during the proposal phase and taking charge of controlling and refining the design throughout the engineering phase. Your primary focus will encompass aspects such as resistance and propulsion, manoeuvrability, and seakeeping for naval shipbuilding projects. Conducting simulations for smoke hindrance is also a crucial aspect of the role, involving the use of various software packages. Additionally, you will be responsible for model testing and overseeing sea acceptance hydrodynamic tests. Effective communication with clients, suppliers, and research institutes will be essential. Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, particularly the Hydrostatic team, you will provide valuable insights and guidance on hydrodynamic aspects.

What you will do

  • Addressing multiple aspects of applying advanced hydrodynamic methods in various ship design phases
  • Utilizing a range of design tools to facilitate research goals and the development of innovative methods
  • Leading projects focused on assessing hydrodynamic and aerodynamic performance in naval structures
  • Quantifying designs through simulations, model testing, and full-scale testing
  • Analyzing and optimizing both existing and innovative designs for enhanced performance

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Naval Architecture
  • Experience in hydrodynamics for complex shipbuilding projects
  • Deep understanding of fluid mechanics and experience with CFD
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
