Main requirements: Dutch and English fluency, +5 years’ experience, HVK certification, strong knowledge of OHS/ARBO legislation and emergency procedures

Your opportunity

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in shaping the safety culture across both Dutch and international operations. You will be responsible for implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and emergency preparedness programs for offices, facilities, and offshore units.

You will lead four key areas of focus: corporate offices, technology-driven emergency response (HERO), project support, and training. Acting as the central point of contact for all OHS-related matters, you will ensure our client meets national ARBO standards while contributing to a globally consistent health & safety strategy.

This is a dynamic position that blends regulatory compliance with practical training, incident prevention, and advisory services. With occasional travel to international offices or offshore locations, you’ll experience a balance of office-based strategy and hands-on involvement in safety preparedness.

What you will do

  • Serve as ARBO Coordinator and point of contact for all OHS-related internal/external queries
  • Conduct statutory Risk Assessments (RI&E) and develop actionable improvement plans
  • Maintain and lead an effective Emergency Response (HERO) organization for the Head Office
  • Register, report, and investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe observations
  • Coordinate HERO exercises and training sessions; maintain emergency readiness equipment
  • Guide healthy workspace evaluations and fulfill the role of Prevention Officer
  • Provide HSE training and develop course materials for internal use
  • Advise on OHS in internal projects, including permit applications and ergonomic assessments
  • Report regularly to the Section Head HSE on safety KPIs, incident logs, and HERO status

Where you will work

It is a privately owned company that delivers floating energy solutions and complex mooring equipment to the global oil & gas and renewables industries. Besides having proven capabilities in engineering and developing installations for harsh offshore conditions, they own and operate their own fleet of FPSOs. A welcoming organization in which people with the right pro-active attitude will get opportunities to prove themselves and grow.

  • Challenging engineering environment, particularly in developing equipment for extreme offshore conditions
  • An organization with a cooperative mindset and open communication style, which allows for professional progress
  • Drive for new technologies in floating sustainable energy solutions
  • For the size of the projects, a relatively small multi-disciplinary engineering team, with a focus on conceptual and basic design
  • Combining in one close-knit company: EPCI contractor and offshore fleet-owner-operator

What you already have

  • Fluent Dutch and English language skills, written and spoken
  • HVK (Hogere Veiligheidskunde) or equivalent safety certification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant safety environment
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch OHS (ARBO) legislation and safety regulations
  • Experience conducting RI&E, leading HERO programs, and acting as Prevention Officer
  • BHV coordination and offshore experience is a plus
  • Willingness to occasionally travel abroad, including offshore and project location

Your benefits

  • 30 paid holidays per year for an excellent work-life balance
  • Covered commuting and interviewing costs
  • Business Travel Insurance
  • Basic Dutch course, so you will understand the Dutch jokes during the coffee break
  • Access to social gatherings, lectures, and events, so you will meet like-minded friends within the Dutch Maritime Industry.
  • Housing search support and registration provided by Van Storm
