Job summary:

Tasks: oversee and manage all coating-related activities within the Pipeline Production Department

Projects pipelay welding, materials, non-destructive testing (NDT), field joint coating procedures, construction of structures, vessel modifications, repairs, and platform preparations for heavy lifting

Company: offshore fleet owner & operator and EPIC offshore contractor

Main requirements: +5 years of experience in the welding, and coating industry in an offshore environment

Your opportunity

As a Head of Coating Department, you will oversee all coating-related activities within the Pipeline Production Department, ensuring these activities are executed efficiently, timely, and safely. This role requires identifying and implementing improvements in techniques, equipment, and methodologies based on interactions with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers. You will act as the go-to person for all coating-related matters. Next to maintaining and expanding the technical knowledge of coating codes, production processes, and equipment, you will also communicate with the stakeholders daily.

What you will do

  • Assign coating engineers to tenders and projects, maintain personnel planning within the coating disciplines, and manage onshore Training Centre (TRC) activities
  • Approve coating methods, equipment, and consumables
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective production for project requirements
  • Plan, approve and manage coating activities' timing and duration at the TRC
  • Provide tender input as required by the Proposals Department
  • Advising the Manager of Production based on the collected and analyzed pipeline production-related data
  • Monitor daily progress of ongoing production on vessels or work sites
  • Understand project requirements, define associated strategies, and collaborate with the department on project preparation
  • Inform supervisors of any potential non-conformant or non-efficient coating practices
  • Perform interdisciplinary checks on project-specific and general installation procedures
  • Ensure follow-up on issues encountered by offshore vessels
  • Identify and implement improvements within the coating disciplines

What you already have

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
  • +5 years experience in the welding, coating industry, or non-destructive testing, preferably in the offshore environment
  • +3 years of experience managing a department
  • In-depth understanding of S-lay pipeline installation and pipeline production methods
  • Familiarity with requirements involving proposals, projects, and subcontracts
  • Strong understanding of coating codes, production processes, and coating equipment
