Job summary:

Tasks: Functional support and configuration of the Cadmatic Hull platform, supporting engineering teams across the full shipbuilding lifecycle.

Projects: Complex naval shipbuilding programs with long lifecycles and high engineering and data consistency requirements.

Environment: Shipbuilding engineering organization within a global group, combining advanced digital engineering tools with in-house production capabilities.

Main requirements: BSc. or MSc. in Engineering, preferably Shipbuilding or Mechanical Engineering, hands-on experience with Cadmatic Hull, solid understanding of CAD and PLM principles, and a strong affinity with hull engineering processes in a high-tech engineering environment.

Your opportunity

As an Engineering Support Specialist (Cadmatic Hull), you will support shipbuilding engineers by ensuring that their design and production processes are effectively supported by CAD and PLM applications. This role sits within engineering support, not IT, and is aimed at engineers who understand how shipbuilding design work is actually done and are comfortable working with digital tools to improve it.

You will act as the functional bridge between engineering teams and application development, translating real engineering workflows into practical solutions within the Cadmatic Hull environment. Your focus will be on supporting hull and structural engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from early design to production-ready data.

You will work closely with engineering disciplines. This means supporting day-to-day engineering work while also helping shape how teams collaborate, structure data, and use Cadmatic Hull and related applications more efficiently.

What you will do

  • Translate shipbuilding and hull engineering business processes into functional specifications and workflows
  • Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and application specialists to analyze issues and define effective solutions
  • Develop, implement, and optimize application processes that directly support engineering activities
  • Provide functional support to PLM and CAD users, with a strong focus on Cadmatic Hull
  • Configure and maintain project environments within Cadmatic Hull
  • Manage catalogs, libraries, specifications, and other project-related engineering data
  • Maintain and monitor interfaces between Cadmatic Hull and other applications
  • Administer user access rights within the application landscape
  • Develop and maintain training materials, user manuals, tips, and functional documentation
  • Organize and coordinate application-related training sessions together with Engineering Support
  • Maintain productive working relationships with suppliers and knowledge partners
  • Represent engineering needs in discussions with IT and application vendors

Where you will work

You will be part of a highly technical shipbuilding engineering environment focused on complex naval projects. The organization combines deep engineering expertise with a strong production background, offering exposure to long-running programs and modern digital engineering tools.

  • Work on complex shipbuilding projects with long lifecycles
  • Strong focus on digital engineering, CAD, and PLM integration
  • Close collaboration with experienced hull engineers, designers, and engineering support specialists
  • A stable environment with ongoing investment in technology, tooling, and people
  • Work locations are Vlissingen or Schiedam, with close cooperation between sites.

What you already have

  • A Bachelor degree or proven competence in Engineering, preferably Shipbuilding Engineering
  • Strong preference for experience in Hull Engineering or Hull Design
  • Hands-on experience working with Cadmatic, ideally Cadmatic Hull, as part of daily engineering work
  • Understanding of PLM principles and how they support engineering and production processes
  • Comfortable acting as the link between engineering teams and IT or application specialists
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to represent engineering needs in technical discussions
  • Fluency in English, with Dutch considered an advantage
  • EU citizenship and a permanent EU passport are required due to the military nature of the projects. Candidates with an EU work visa or with both EU and non-EU nationality or passport are not eligible
  • A structured, accurate way of working combined with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Your benefits

  • 40 paid holidays per year, supporting a healthy work-life balance
  • Covered commuting and interview-related travel costs
  • Business travel insurance
  • Access to a basic Dutch language course
  • Participation in social events, technical lectures, and industry gatherings
