Your opportunity

As a Commercial Risk & Claims Manager – Shipbuilding you will play a vital part in protecting the company’s commercial and legal interests by ensuring that every relevant document and piece of communication is collected, organized, and ready to support or defend against claims. Your efforts will directly impact the financial success and delivery performance of cutting-edge naval shipbuilding programs.

What you will do

  • Lead the collection of documentation from internal departments (Engineering, Production, Procurement, Project Management) and external parties (clients, subcontractors, suppliers).
  • Build and maintain effective relationships to ensure timely, accurate information flow.
  • Analyse documentation to identify potential claims or risk areas.
  • Develop systems and processes for efficient documentation storage and traceability.
  • Work closely with Legal, Commercial, and Project Management to evaluate potential claims and defenses.
  • Train project teams on documentation best practices and pre-claim procedures.
  • Contribute to company-wide lessons learned and claim prevention strategies.

What you already have

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Technology, Naval Architecture, Engineering, or Law.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the maritime, shipbuilding, or defence sector.
  • Solid understanding of shipbuilding contracts, project management, and commercial frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch language skills are a plus).
  • Excellent references and willingness to undergo security clearance.
  • EU citizenship and passport required; candidates with non-EU nationality or dual nationality are not eligible.
