Your opportunity

As an Automation Engineer R&D, you will be working on the newest technologies of the naval division of a world-leading Dutch shipbuilding group. You will be involved in research and development projects related to automation, digital twins, and system integration of complex control and decision support systems. You will contribute to the proposals by understanding and interpreting clients’ requirements and providing them with design solutions.

What you will do

  • Participating in research projects in the field of automation and system integration
  • Preparing the design and implementation of next-generation automation solutions
  • Assessing and integrating existing hardware and software products with new platforms 
  • Developing and testing integrated mission management solutions
  • Supporting the project teams with your technical advice regarding automation solutions in various project phases, such as engineering, production, and commissioning
  • Improving the standardization and integration of the automation solutions for building semi-standard naval vessels

What you already have

  • +3 years of experience in Automation solutions in Shipbuilding
  • BSc. or MSc. degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • A practical and customer-oriented approach, since you will be involved in defining solutions and integrating new systems
  • Investigative and solution-seeking attitude, as you will have to come up with solutions to newly appearing issues
  • Ability to work in a highly complex technical environment, so expect to be positively challenged
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English, so you can communicate efficiently with your multi-cultural team. Willingness to learn Dutch is much appreciated!
  • Available for full-time in Vlissingen, but the Rotterdam area could be an option as well
  • Experience in shipbuilding and knowledge in graphical user interface design and programming are huge assets 
  • EU citizenship is a must, due to the nature of the military projects
